The Business Service Portal USP has provided an electronic start-up service since 31 July 2017.
Compulsory sickness, pension- und accident insurance for sole proprietors begins on the registration date of their business.
The start of the insurance can be reported on the Business Service Portal during e-start-up or directly to the relevant office.
Caution
In general, these rules also apply to entrepreneurs from EU Member States in Austria.

Competent authority
The competent body is the Social Insurance Institution for the Self-Employed (→ SVS)German text of the relevant province or the competent business authorityGerman text. Both can be contacted quickly and easily via the Business Service Portal during e-start-up.
Procedure
An insurance declaration must be sent to the Social Insurance Institution for the Self-Employed (SVS) of the relevant province or the competent business authority notifying them of the start of the insurance. This can be done on the Business Service Portal USP during e-start-up.
The insurance declaration can be posted or faxed to the Social Insurance Institution.

There are no fees and charges payable.
