Registering for the Business Service Portal ( USP)

The USP offers access to over 50 e-government services German text in one place. Registration for the USP is designed with your security in mind and can be carried out free of charge at any time.

What is the benefit of registering?

Most services on the USP can only be accessed when it is known which business is currently active. As part of the registration, a person is designated as the USP-administrator. This person can then allocate further roles and rights to employees or to themselves of their own accord, and thus access the various USP-services erhalten.

How does the registration process work?

You can either register as a person using your mobile signature or personal FinanzOnline login and then link a business, or register as a business using your FinanzOnline login and then link a natural person.

It is only possible to register as a person for pre-existing businesses if you are authorised to represent the business independently. This is generally the case if:

  • it is set down in the companies register (‘... represents independently’);
  • you are a sole proprietor;
  • you are a partner in an open partnership;
  • you are a general partner in a limited partnership; or
  • you are registered as the chairperson in the register of associations.

  • Appointing a USP-administrator

    The first role that a business account needs is that of business administrator. This person can then allocate further roles and rights of their own accord.

  • Linking an account to a natural person

    Security is of paramount importance in the USP. That is why most of the services are only available to accounts linked to a natural person. his link can be established using your mobile signature, Citizen Card or FinanzOnline login details.

  • The system will then check whether registration can be carried out immediately or whether confirmation is required from the management.

  • PDF is sent

    If, despite consulting the registers, it is not possible to confirm whether the person appointed as the USP administrator is entitled to represent the business, a registered letter with return receipt is delivered personally to the management, containing the login details to the USP and information on how to cancel the registration.

  • Security period

    To prevent abuse of the system, there is a three-day period before the account is activated. During this period, the registration can be cancelled.

  • Renewed registration
    The person who has been appointed as the USP administrator can register using a FinanzOnline login or mobile signature

  • Process complete

    You can now access a service, add further rights or perhaps add the first employee account.

Registering as a person and adding a business

You can register an existing business, start a business or create an e-billing account.

Registering an existing business

You can also register your business using your mobile signature or personal FinanzOnline login if you are entitled to represent the business independently.

  • Registration as a person

    Register using your mobile signature, Citizen Card or personal FinanzOnline login.

  • Selecting the business

    If you are entitled to represent more than one business, you can now select the business that you want to add to your registration as administrator.

  • Confirming the registration

    Confirm the registration of your business in the assistant.

  • Process complete

    You can now access a service, add further rights or perhaps add the first employee account.

Starting a business

You can also start a sole proprietorship or single-member limited liability company GmbH digitally in the USP using the
USP start-up account. A mobile signature or Citizen Card is all you will need for this.

Registering for e-billing

If you are not interested in the full range of services offered by the USP but only want to set up an e-billing account with the federal government, you can also register for just the e-billing service. This option is intended primarily for non-commercial entities (newly self-employed people). For this, you will need your mobile signature or Citizen Card.

Registering for DigiDAISY

The following USP registration process is available for assessors who do not have their own company or a business license, and who need access to DigiDAISY of Accreditation Austria as a dependent work provider for the federal government.
