Registration for Foreign Companies
You can register a company for the Austrian Business Service Portal (USP) even if it is not based in Austria. Please follow the steps outlined here.
1. Step: Register the company in the relevant Austrian Register
Before you can register the company for the Austrian Business Service Portal (USP), it must be recorded in an official Austrian register. Which register is responsible depends on whether the company to be registered is a branch office of a foreign company or not.
The company is a branch office of a foreign company
Branch offices of foreign companies must be entered in the Austrian Companies Register (Firmenbuch). The registration must be applied for by the authorised representative at the competent Companies Register Court. Once the entry in the Austrian Companies Register has been completed, the registration for USP can proceed in the same way as for an Austrian company registered in the Companies Register.
For more information on registering a branch office of a foreign company in the Companies Register, please see: Branches
The company is not a branch office of a foreign company
In this case, the company must be recorded in the Supplementary Register for Other Data Subjects (ERsB) before registration at USP is possible.
To apply for entry in the ERsB, please submit the relevant application as follows:
-
Form for registering with the Supplementary Register For Other Data Subjects (ERsB)
in German - if you have an EU-conform electronic identity

Please note
If your company already has an Austrian tax number, no additional entry in the sompanies register or the ERsB is required. In this case, you can proceed directly to step 2.
2. Step: Check administrator eligibility
For registration at USP, a natural person must be designated to act as Administrator on behalf of the company. Please check the following options
The designated person is an Austrian citizen or has their primary residence in Austria
In this case, no further action is required and you may proceed to Step 3.
The designated person holds a digital signature from an EU member state (eIDAS) or an ID Austria
In order for the person to be recorded in Austria and thus be appointed as Administrator, a one-time sign-in using the digital signature is required prior to registration. To do so, open the Mein USP login page, select Login to My USP and log in using EU Login.
If this is your first time using USP, you should receive a prompt to register your company and can therefore proceed to Step 3. If you can already see a company, you already have a user account and can likewise proceed to Step 3. In this case, you do not need to sign in for a company.
The designated person does not hold a digital signature and does not have a primary residence in Austria
In this case, the person must first be recorded in the Supplementary Register for Natural Persons (ERnP). Please follow the relevant instructions for this.
You are also welcome to contact the USP Service Center if it is not known whether the person has already been recorded in an Austrian register.
3. Step: Registration at USP via USP Service Center
The actual registration for Mein USP can now take place. This is done exclusively in writing by email to info@usp.gv.at and must include the following documents and information:
- Exact company name
- Reference number (Ordnungszahl) from the ERsB or Companies Register number (Firmenbuchnummer) from the Companies Register
- Company address (street, house number, postcode, town/city, country)
- Phone number and email address of a contact person
- First name, last name, date of birth and place of birth of the person to be appointed as administrator
- Photo ID of this person
4. Step: Completion of registration
The contact person named in the registration application will receive an information email once registration has been completed. At the same time, a registered letter addressed to the management will be sent containing the login credentials for the Administrator account.
The administrator can now log in to My USP and complete the first steps.
Caution
Please follow the steps as described here and contact the Service Center if you have any questions, in order to avoid delays. If a step is skipped, the registration application will be rejected until the preceding steps have been completed.
