During the period of compulsory insurance, the employer must report any changes relevant to the insurance that are not covered by the monthly contribution base report (mBGM).
Registration procedure for mandatory insurance
While mandatory insurance is in effect, the employer must report any change of significance for the insurance that is not included in the monthly contribution basis reporting (mBGB) within seven days.
The notice of change must be submitted to the competent health insurance carrier (→ SV)German text.
Notice of change is only valid if it is sent to the health insurance provider via ELDA (electronic data exchange with Austrian social insurance providers) in the standard format specified by the Association of Austrian Insurance Providers.
Applications submitted in other ways, particularly in paper form, by email or by telephone, are not acceptable.
Applications sent by natural persons from private households by methods other than data transmission are valid if
- it can be proved that it was technically impossible to submit an application for a considerable period of time due to the failure of an essential element of the data transmission system (PC, screen, keyboard, cables etc.) for reasons beyond their control, and they were therefore unable to meet the deadline.
No documents are required.
Costs and fees
No costs are incurred.
Specific requirement: If there is a switch between full insurance coverage and partial coverage in the accident insurance, the insured party must immediately be provided with a copy of the change notification.
Self-reporting is envisaged for changes of address.
Penalties: An infringement may be penalised by late charges or a late registration fine. The District Administrative Authority may impose administrative penalties for offences.
